Charleville attack hailed

Charleville assistant trainer John Collins was singing the praises of his attack after the north Cork outfit overwhelmed Manchester's Fullen Gaels at Walsh Park last Sunday to book their place in the AIB All-Ireland club JHC final.

"We have heard it said in the town that if anything happens to James O'Birne, we could be in trouble, but you saw today that we have other scorers as well," he told the Corkman.

"James showed his class again, I think he finished up with about seven points, but Mark Kavanagh, Andrew Cagney and Derry Murphy also put some good scores on the board, and James Casey chipped in with a point from midfield.

It was a bit of a battle for about 15 or 20 minutes, and we were expecting that, but the work-rate and hunger from our team ensured we were able to handle the best that Fullen Gaels threw at us. Everyone played hard for the next fella, and that has been a feature of our progress since we started out in the North Cork championship last year."

He continued: "We are eagerly looking forward to playing in Croker, and hopefully we will be celebrating again after the game against Ballyragget."
