The Comer Group are set to continue their sponsorship of Meath football teams
The Comer Group International will sponsor Meath county football teams for the third year in 2012, treasurer Pat Clerkin announced at Monday night's county board meeting in Aras Tailteann.

There had been fears that a new sponsor might have to be sought but the announcement was greeted with some relief and then applause.

There was also good news for the hurling people in the county with the news that Martin Donnelly would be continuing to back Meath teams in the small ball game.

Clerkin announced that the financial report to be digested at the convention next Saturday shows the board to be black to the tune of over €50,000.

Some felt that the figure of €99,000 for the management team of Seamus McEnaney and his assistants stated in November 2010 was too high. However, Clerkin was pleased to announce that such expenses had been kept down to €82,000.

Clerkin picked out three areas of savings from the team management figures: €25,246 for sports and gear equipment compared to €45,219 in 2010, €9,150 for gym and use of premises compared to €14,650 the previous year and €68,914 for medical and physiotherapy compared to €87,260 in 2010.

Delegates have a better opportunity to make their views known on the financial report at Saturday's county convention.
