Wilson retires

Westmeath's Fergal Wilson
Westmeath footballer Fergal Wilson has decided to retire from inter-county football.
Wilson has been an outstanding servant for Westmeath over the past decade, but injuries have hampered his football in the last few years.
The 31-year-old was part of the historic Westmeath side that captured the county's one and only All-Ireland under-21 title in 1999 before he went on to represent the senior side when they won the Leinster title in 2004.
A talented forward, Wilson has decided to concentrate on his club career with Tubberclair, who were relegated to the intermediate ranks this year.
"I had a good few chats with Pat Flanagan and decided to call it a day," Wilson told the Westmeath Independent. "The main reason is that I've been picking up a good few niggling injuries over the past couple of years, and have struggled to reach the fitness levels needed for inter county football.
"Playing inter county football is also extremely time consuming, you're talking four or five nights training each week, then games, and then the amount of preparation that goes into it."
