Antrim's Terence "Sambo" McNaughton
Terence 'Sambo' McNaughton looks set to make a surprise return to the Antrim hurling managerial fold under new boss Jerry Wallis.

According to a report in today's Irish News, the former joint-manager has been approached by Wallis to take up the role of selector with the Saffron senior team and also become the county's new minor hurling manager.

Wallis, who has succeeded Dinny Cahill in the job, revealed that he was "very close" to confirming his selectors for next season but isn't prepared to name the men who are likely to be appointed just yet.

"I'm not going to make any statement on my backroom team at the moment but just to say I've made contact with certain people and their feedback has been very positive," Wallis told the Irish News.

McNaughton and Dominic McKinley managed the Antrim minors during the 2005 and 2006 season and steered them towards a historic All-Ireland quarter-final, where they ran Galway very close. The duo would be appointed to a three-year term with the county senior team between 2007 and 2009 before Cahill, who has since joined the Armagh set-up, returned for two seasons.
