Molloy's season in the balance

Donegal's Dermot Molloy
Dermot 'Brick' Molloy is in danger of missing the remainder of Donegal's All-Ireland SFC campaign with a knee injury.

The highly-rated young forward suffered the injury while playing for his club Naomh Conaill in an under 21 championship game on Tuesday - just two days after he won an Ulster SFC medal. Initial reports suggest that he will be out of action for six weeks, meaning Donegal would have to reach the All-Ireland final for him to see action again this season.

"Dermot's knee is locking and is very, very sore," Donegal manager Jim McGuinness told the Irish Daily Star.

"Our medical team are a wee bit worried, but we'll just keep our fingers crossed.

"Dermot has been training very well with us and he has also been playing very well. He'd be a massive loss to us if he were missing, but we're just hoping that it's not as serious as first thought."
