Mulligan quits Tyrone panel

Tyrone star Owen Mulligan
Tyrone's All-Ireland prospects have been dealt a massive blow with the news that Owen Mulligan has quit the panel.
The 30-year-old forward, who is the holder of three All-Ireland medals, failed to appear for training on Tuesday night and was absent again last night as Tyrone continued their preparations for next weekend's All-Ireland football qualifier third round clash against either Wicklow or Armagh.
Mulligan is believed to be disillusioned at the lack of game time he has got in this year's championship. He did start the Ulster semi-final defeat to Donegal, but was left on the bench for the wins over Monaghan (Ulster SFC quarter-final) and Longford (All-Ireland qualifier).
A proven big game player, Mulligan played in six of Tyrone's seven National League games and it was felt his form coming into the championship was good. But he still failed to make the starting XV for the game against Monaghan and it's understood that manager Mickey Harte is now trying to coax him back into the squad.
