Clubs and boards told not to stream games during live TV

Clubs or county boards may not stream their games live when RTE, TV3, Setanta or TG4 are showing live matches
The GAA has told clubs and county boards that they are not allowed to stream their games live on the internet while other matches are being covered live on television.
A number of clubs in recent times have taken to broadcasting their games live on the internet. County Boards are also keen to move in this direction, with the Tipperary county board earlier in the year outlining their desire that their club games could be carried on their own county board website.
However, Croke Park have moved to regulate the area, with the Ard Chomhairle meeting on the 18 June approving the GAA's new 'Video & Streaming Policy'.
The policy means that clubs or county boards may not stream their games live when RTE, TV3, Setanta or TG4 are showing live matches on television.
So, if a club in the past has streamed their home leagues games live on the web, they will no longer be able to do so if it clashes with a live televised game.
In order to ensure compliance, no matches can be streamed live without official GAA consent. Clubs must gain approval from their county board while counties must get the okay of their provincial bodies before they can show their games live on their own website.
The move has been pushed by the Commercial and Marketing Department in Croke Park, who are likely to be keen that their national sponsors have no competition when it comes to their games being broadcast live. Although, it is certainly open to debate as to how many viewers a live televised GAA match would lose because a club in Cork is showing a league game online at the same time.
