Galway begin hurling championship bid

June 03, 2011
The fourth semi-finalist in the Leinster GAA hurling senior championships will be decided on Saturday evening when Westmeath host Galway in Mullingar with the winners qualifying to play Dublin on June 18. Kilkenny and Wexford meet in the other semi-final on June 11. Next Saturday is a big day for counties outside the top tier as Croke Park hosts a triple header in the Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cup finals.

GALWAY v WESTMEATH
Westmeath already have a win behind them, having beaten Carlow in the first round, 4-10 to 1-14. Derek McNicholas scored 2-0 while Brendan Murtagh landed 0-7 as Westmeath advanced to the next round. Galway, runners-up to Kilkenny in last year's Leinster championship, are having their first outing in this year's campaign.
