Tyrone came from behind to register their second consecutive win of their Dr McKenna Cup campaign tonight at the expense of a brave Fermanagh side at Brewster Park.

Mickey Harte's men needed a late surge, inspired by ace pair Sean Cavanagh and Martin Penrose, to secure victory after the Erne men had kept their favoured opponents at bay for three quarters of this clash.

It was the hosts that made the better start with Tomas Corrigan, Paul Ward and Hugh Brady all sending over points in the opening stages which saw their team into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead.

The Red Hands had only managed one score in the opening 25 minutes, but three minutes later they were level via a Martin Penrose penalty, after Brian McGuigan had been dragged down in the square by Barry Owens, and Penrose edged the visitors ahead before Terry O'Flanagan squared the sides once more (0-6 to 1-3) at half-time.

Inside the opening five minutes of the restart the Ulster champions fired in their second goal following a slick move which saw Ciaran Girvan finish to the corner, but Fermanagh hit back with three unanswered points - substitute Peter Sherry and Tommy McElroy among the scores - in as many minutes to keep things on an even keel.

Tyrone regained the lead through veteran playmaker Brian McGuigan and never looked back as Penrose opened up a two-point, which Cavanagh extended, before the Aghyaran attacker extended his tally to 1-4 to help secure a six-point win.
