Ulster club JFC: Corduff goals sink Swanlinbar

December 13, 2010

Swanlinbar's Gearoid McKiernan with Corduff's Martin Mills and Pauric Gollogly during the Ulster Club JFC final at Breffni Park.
Goals from Shane Malone and Padraic Keenan helped Corduff to an impressive victory over Swanlinbar in yesterday's AIB Ulster club junior football final at Kingspan/Breffni Park.

Corduff (Monaghan) 2-7
Swanlinbar (Cavan) 0-8

The Monaghan men were the better team throughout and would have won by a bigger margin but for some poor finishing. With Declan Larkin producing a man of the match display from centre back, Corduff never looked back after Malone netted on 17 minutes. Swanlibar, who led after 10 minutes, responded with a couple of points from Gearoid McKiernan, but still trailed by 0-3 to 1-4 at the interval.

The Cavan side reduced the deficit after the restart, but Corduff never lost the lead and made sure of a historic win when substitute Keenan fired home their second goal within a minute of his introduction at the beginning of the final quarter.
