Monaghan receive Duffy boost

Monaghan's Shane Duffy
Shane Duffy is expected to be fit for Monaghan's All-Ireland football qualifier against Kildare at Croke Park on Saturday.

The experienced goalkeeper has missed most of the championship with a quad muscle complaint and was in obvious pain after each kickout during last Sunday's heavy Ulster final defeat to Tyrone. But the injury has been responding well to treatment, meaning that manager Seamus McEnaney will be able to play Darren Hughes - who kept goal against Armagh and Fermanagh - out the field.

The news is not so good about full back JP Mone, who was carried off early in the second half of the Ulster final with a twisted knee and is unlikely to be available for the clash with the Lilywhites.
