Sligo's Eamonn O'Hara powers past Gareth Bradshaw of Galway during the drawn Connacht SFC semi-final at Pearse Stadium - INPHO
While disappointed not to finish Galway off in the drawn Connacht SFC semi-final, Eamon O'Hara believes Sligo can convince their doubters of their quality in the replay.
The Yeats county were more than a tad unfortunate not to clinch a final berth last Sunday as the led by four points in injury time only to be reeled in with a late goal and injury time free.
O'Hara still regrets that the game was not closed and does not understand whey some people still do not rate Sligo's chances this year.
"We were disappointed that we didn't win the game but we have confidence in ourselves to finish the result," O'Hara said talking to the Irish Examiner. "A lot of people didn't give us credit for the Mayo game, speaking of how bad Mayo were rather than how good we were.
"We've done the work for the last 18 months and we are trying to become a serious team. It is taking time but the more we are up there with the best in Connacht. We are going to try and get to a Connacht final and that is our aim next."
Gareth Bradshaw's late free earned Galway a second bite at the cherry and O'Hara takes the way that the Tribesmen celebrated the full time whistle as a reflection of just how far Sligo have come.
"For us to come down there and at the final whistle to hear Galway people screaming like they did when they won the All-Ireland final, is a big thing," O'Hara explained.
"People would have said you were crazy if you thought that would happen at the start of the game. They were relieved that they got a second chance. And we are happy that it is coming down to Sligo. We have no fears, we will approach it the exact same way that we did last Sunday."
