O'Brien welcomes Hyland return

Wicklow's Don Hyland
Manager Casey O'Brien is delighted to have Don Hyland back on board with the Wicklow senior hurlers.

The Carnew clubman had retired from intercounty hurling at the start of 2009 after 20 years of service to the Garden County, but he reversed that decision last weekend to feature at full forward in Wicklow's opening-round NHL win over Fingal in Swords.

Hyland notched two points and was sent off for two yellow cards upon his return to the intercounty stage. O'Brien says:

"Don is a player with silken hurling skills and he is an invaluable boost to the team and an inspiration to the young players on the team.

"Don has lost none of his enthusiasm for the game and has been doing gym training himself over the winter to keep fit."
