The Monaghan county board have insisted that there is no other motive behind hosting this Sunday's NFL Division One game between Monaghan and Tyrone at Inniskeen other than the fact that it is the best grounds available with a suitable capacity.

Tyrone are unhappy with the situation which will see them having to travel to the furthest point in the county, as Clones is currently under redevelopment and Scotstown, which hosted the Farney men's opener against Cork last Month, has too small a capacity.

"We are slightly surprised we're being taken to Inniskeen, especially when Derry will be playing in Scotstown in a few weeks time and Cork have already played there," Tyrone county board chairman, Dominic McCaughney told the Irish Daily Mirror.

"We have to accept Monaghan's explanation that Inniskeen has a bigger capacity but that has to be set against the inconvenience for the travelling supporters and the team."

However, his Monaghan counterpart, Paul Curran, has insisted that 'Grattan Park' is by far the best choice for the game with St Tiernach's Park currently closed.

"Inniskeen is as fine a facility as there is in the country, it is a new ground, but the only problem is the capacity, which the health and safety people have fixed at 3,750.

"I'm not sure exactly what Scotstown's capacity is, but it would definitely be less than that."

The Clontibret man added: "It's unfortunate but after Clones there is a big drop off (in capacity) in terms of what's available.

"We can't magic up another venue overnight and Inniskeen is definitely the next best we have available."
