Monaghan manager Seamus McEnaney
Seamus McEnaney is keeping the faith despite seeing his Monaghan team falter against Cork.
An inexperienced Oriel County side committed seppuku at the back as they fell to a luckless 3-13 to 3-12 defeat to the Rebels at Scotstown on Sunday, but Banty draws many positives from the entertaining Division One opener:
"I suppose it was a combination of missed chances and giving away bad goals early on that cost us, but I would be taking the positives out of the game.
"Monaghan showed serious character. We started five debutants and most of them did really well.
"We did concede two or three soft goals and we need to address that, but the character the team showed was absolutely magnificent.
"The disappointing part of it is that we didn't take at least a point from the game. A draw probably would have been a fair result considering the amount of chances we missed in the first 25 minutes. We were completely on top and just couldn't get our scores.
"I think we'll get the points that we'll need to stay up, which is probably six points. I believe we're on the front foot rather than the back foot."
