NFL 3: Galligan sinks Rossies
February 07, 2010

Cavan's Raymond Galligan
Cavan 2-20
Roscommon 1-10
Cavan produced an awesome second-half display at Dr Hyde Park yesterday to see off hosts Roscommon with 13 points to spare in their National Football League Division Three opener.
Raymond Galligan produced a match-winning display by kicking 0-10 from full-forward, with some exceptional free-taking which gave Tommy Carr's men the platform to go on a record an emphatic victory.
It was the home side that had got themselves off to the better start as ace forward Donal Shine kicked three points before netting the game's opening goal in the 18th minute. Cavan fought back during the latter stages of the half through Galligan and half-forwards Cian Mackey and David Givney to level the game by the interval on 1-6 to 0-9.
After the restart, Cavan kicked themselves into gear and out-scored their opponents by 2-11 to 0-4. Newcomer Eoin McGuigan was sent through for a fine goal following a move from Gareth Smith and Martin Reilly before Galligan registered 0-4 in ten minutes.
Roscommon's responses largely came through Shine, who finished level with Galligan on 1-7, but he wasn't backed up the way the Cavan full-forward was and two quick points from substitute Eddie O'Reilly, along with Mackey finding the net in injury-time, saw the Breffni men record a huge victory in the end.
