Gilroy promises big changes

Dublin manager Pat Gilroy
Pat Gilroy has promised to make wholesale changes to his panel in 2010. The Dublin football boss was speaking at the launch of the Sunnybank Hotel-sponsored Dublin football regional tournament which takes place over two days next weekend at the Innisfails GAA Grounds in Balgriffin. Admitting that 2010 is going to be a "difficult year" for Dublin football, Gilroy expressed the hope that he could unearth new talent at next weekend's tournament which will involve teams from south, west, north, Fingal and an under 23 'Colts' selection. "We definitely need a good, fresh impetus into this panel - 2009 is over and now there's a blank page," he said at yesterday's launch. "Next year is definitely going to be difficult for us because there is going to be a lot of new people in there and they are not just going to step up to it easily. So we will have to be patient and give some of those fellas time. "To be fair to the fellas that have been there, their commitment, their attitude, their discipline has been excellent. We haven't any issues in that regards. In many ways, it would be easier if we did because we could use that as a reason. "They've had a good fair chance at it for five, six, seven years and we haven't been successful, so maybe we do have to step back form this and look at fresh faces.
