Moran predicts dogfight

Dublin's Colin Moran
Former Dublin skipper Colin Moran says Ballyboden St. Enda's can expect a tough battle with Garrycastle in today's Leinster club football semi-final at Cusack Park. Moran, who was forced to retire from football earlier this year due to a serious hip injury, has remained close to the 'Boden set-up and after a hectic few weeks for the club, reckons this afternoon's game could be their toughest yet. "We'd be familiar with a few of the Westmeath players on the Garycastle team," he said. "In the Dublin championship you know everyone so well. But the Leinster championship can be a bit of a lottery, especially with the way the weather has been this week. "Realistically, a very low score could win the game on Sunday." Given how difficult it is to win the Dublin championship, Moran has called on his former team-mates to make the most of this opportunity. "You have to be realistic and say that you might never have another chance like this again. "The Dublin championship is so competitive. When it all kicks off again next year in Dublin, Oliver Plunkett's will be dying for their first championship. Vincent's will be back, Crokes will be back, Brigid's will be there. "You look at Vincent's and Crokes winning an All-Ireland title and then not being able to defend their Dublin title. It's that competitive I think the lads realise that they might not get another opportunity at it so they may as well make the best of it."
