Tyrone duo assisting Armagh school

November 20, 2009
Tyrone football stars John Devine and Davy Harte will find themselves in the unusual position of attempting to plot the downfall of a team from the Red Hand County tomorrow. They jointly coach the St Patrick's GS Armagh side that will meet Omagh CBS in the Ulster Colleges Rannafast Cup decider at Errigal Ciaran (their home club) tomorrow. The Armagh school overcame St Patrick's Academy Dungannon by 1-9 to 1-7 after extra time in their semi-final while Omagh, coached by ex-Fermanagh county player Kieran Donnelly, defeated Abbey CBS of Newry by 1-7 to 0-7 in the other semi-final. "Maybe it seems a bit odd that two Tyrone players should be nurturing talent in Armagh, but we feel we have a good squad of players. They have certainly shown great commitment to date," said goalkeeper Devine, who will miss the start of Tyrone's 2010 campaign after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury earlier this week.
