Tyrone's Colin Holmes
Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has paid a glowing tribute to Colin Holmes, who has announced his retirement from inter-county football. A native of Moy who has played his club football with Armagh Harps in recent years, Holmes was one of the more versatile members of the Tyrone team that won All-Ireland titles in 2003, 2005 and 2008. "Colin Holmes has served the county well. He was a great influence before I took over and he remained a great influence since then," Harte said in the Irish News. "I had him as a minor when he was 16 and I think was on three Tyrone minor squads. "I have seen him play at a high level since that time. He has given a lot to Tyrone football. In 2006, he came back from an injury which would have ended other player's careers. "He has made a decision. He has a young family and it's an understandable decision for someone at this stage of their career." All eyes will now be on Tyrone captain Brian Dooher, who at 34 is a year older than Holmes, to see what his future intentions are.
