Holmes hangs up his boots

Tyrone utility man Collie Holmes has told Mickey Harte that his intercounty football days are behind him. The three time All-Ireland winner turned 33 this year and claimed his first of four Ulster SFC medals back in 1996. Injury interrupted his latter days in a Tyrone jersey but he did nail down a starting place in the 2008 All-Ireland final, having impressed in that season's run through the backdoor. A teacher in Armagh, Holmes lined out at full back as Armagh Harps lost this year's county senior final to Pearse Og.
