Tyrone keeper John Devine
Tyrone goalkeeper John Devine is mourning the death of his mother Claire. Mrs Devine passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast yesterday after a long illness. Her death comes a year after John's father, also John, died just 24 hours before Tyrone beat Kerry in the 2008 All-Ireland final. John, who was replaced between the posts by Pascal McConnell, recently revealed that he has yet to watch a DVD of the final in full, so overcome was he with grief. Tyrone manager and fellow Errigal Ciaran clubman Mickey Harte said the team would rally behind the player. "It is very sad indeed," he said. "It is bad enough to lose one parent but within a year to lose two - we all feel for John. "All we can say is life deals some strange hands at times and we have to accept that and be there for each other and be there to support John and his family."
