Cork SFC: Clon bridge 13-year gap
September 28, 2009

Clonakilty celebrate their Cork SFC success.
David O'Regan's injury-time free handed Clonakilty their first Cork SFC title in 13 years at St. Finbarr's expense at Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.
Clonakilty.1-13
St. Finbarr's...1-12
The title looked West Cork-bound when Clon held a 1-12 to 0-7 lead with 14 minutes remaining, but Tony Leahy's city side then suddenly came to life, and aided by a goal from substitute Jason Sexton, they got back on level terms with two minutes to go.
However, Clonakilty secured a deserved victory when O'Regan held his nerve to point the winning free from 45 metres out, which sent their supporters in the 10,172 crowd into delirium.
St. Finbarr's were outplayed for most of the game, only managing a single point in the opening 25 minutes in reply to Clonakilty's 1-5. The winners' goal came from team captain Timmy Anglin after 22 minutes.
Clon led by 1-7 to 0-4 at the interval, and they should have killed the game off midway through the second half when Conor McManus was denied a goal by a brilliant Kevin McTiernan save.
A minute later, St. Finbarr's were back in the game thanks to Sexton's goal and further scores from former county star Fionan Murray (two), Robert O'Mahony and Colin O'Sullivan had them level before O'Regan emerged as the Clon hero.
