McCann steps out of her husband's shadow

Antrim captain Geraldine McCann will be aiming to emulate her famous husband's achievement by winning an All-Ireland medal on Sunday. Geraldine, who will lead the Saffrons out against Limerick in the TG4 All-Ireland ladies junior football final at Croke Park, is married to Tyrone All-Star midfielder Enda McGinley, who won All-Ireland medals in 2003, 2005 and last year. "I've told Enda I can get him tickets for the game instead of him getting them for me, like it usually is," she said at yesterday's pre-final press conference in Croke Park. "He got put out of the (Tyrone) championship there on Saturday with Errigal Ciaran, so he's pretty much freed up now, so he has to come down. "It's great to have him there watching. He came for the semi-final match against Derry, but he hasn't been able to get to a lot of matches because he's been so involved with Tyrone," added the 25-year-old solicitor, who is also a sister of Antrim football stars Michael and Thomas McCann.
