Dempsey: My players "went out on the town"
August 20, 2009

Laois manager Sean Dempsey
Recently reappointed Laois football manager Sean Dempsey has admitted that his players went drinking after suffering heavy defeats this year.
As a result, players must sign up to a new code of conduct in 2010 if they want to represent the O'Moore County.
"There were a couple of occasions where the players were very disappointed and they reacted the wrong way to it," he said in the Irish Daily Star.
"They went out on the town as a reaction to losing and that's not the way inter-county footballers should be going.
"It's about putting your shoulder to the wheel and working harder. Some of the lads were young and new to the squad and will learn. We really have to prove it to ourselves.
"The players have to go out and say 'what you saw of me last year is not the real me'. We had no fault with the effort in terms of training, but we had a couple of bad days at the office.
"Sometimes they are hard to explain but we have to get underneath it and find out where the problems were and try and rectify it."
