Tyrone suffer McCaul blow

August 18, 2009

Tyrone's Damien McCaul
Tyrone defender Damien McCaul has been ruled out for the rest of the season after being struck by the cruciate knee ligament jinx for the second time in nine months. McCaul injured the same knee at training last week that he ruptured while playing for UUJ in the Ryan Cup against DIT last November. He featured in five championship games during Tyrone's march to last year's All-Ireland triumph, having started the drawn Ulster SFC first round clash with Down. The latest injury happened during a tackling drill, with a scan on Friday revealing the extent of the damage. The injury is a cruel blow to the Donaghmore clubman who had only returned to training in recent weeks.
