Sweeney returns to Dublin fold
May 26, 2009
David Sweeney has returned to the Dublin senior hurling panel after a two-year absence.
The Ballyboden St. Enda's clubman's return is a timely boost to Anthony Daly's squad ahead of their Leinster SHC opener against Antrim on Sunday week. Despite not being involved with Dublin last year, Sweeney remained one of the top performers on the local club scene and captained 'Boden to retain their county SHC title last autumn.
In recent weeks, he impressed in the Leinster SHL which saw the Dublin champions defeat both Buffer's Alley (Wexford) and The Harps (Laois) before losing the deciding game of their section to St. Martin's of Kilkenny.
Sweeney is unlikely to force his way into Daly's starting plans at this late stage, but he could yet see action against the Saffrons at Croke Park.
