Coulter regrets decision to start

Down's Benny Coulter with Fermanagh defender Hugh Brady during the Ulster SFC at Enniskillen.
Down star Benny Coulter has admitted that he has was wrong to start last Sunday's Ulster SFC defeat to Fermanagh. The Mayobridge clubman wasn't named in Ross Carr's original starting line-up because of a heel injury, but was a late addition to the side which went down badly against the Ernemen. "After some extreme physio treatment, I deemed myself fit to start and in hindsight it was the wrong option," he admitted. "I felt I was fit to do a job of some description, but I could not run and play to my potential. I can only hope I and the rest of the panel can do ourselves justice in the qualifiers." Coulter believes that Down's old failings came back to haunt them when the game was in the melting pot in the final quarter. "We made the same mistakes that we have been making these past few years and it cost us dearly. We seemed to lose our focus and discipline in the last third of the game," he ruefully reflected.
