Ballyroan-Abbey.2-8
St. Ultan's.....0-8
Meath champions St. Ultan's hopes of victory were effectively dashed following the dismissals of Cian Rennicks and Declan Galligan. Rennicks was sent off for an incident involving Eoin Kearns just before half-time, while Galligan followed him to the sideline 10 minutes from the end for a challenge on man of the match Conroy, who bagged 1-4.
The first half was a closely contested affair with Ultan's recovering from the concession of a 12th minute goal from Tierney to trail by the minimum, 0-4 to 1-2, at half-time.
Despite Rennicks' sending off, the visitors managed to gain parity thanks to a Eugene Brady free early in the second half. But Conroy's 37th minute goal put Ballyroan back in the driving seat and the closed out the game with further points from Danny Donohue, John Madigan and Alan Burnell.
