The Monaghan county senior panel is at present enjoying some winter sunshine in Islas Canarias, or Lanzarote to be more precise. The squad headed off on Saturday last on a trip financed by the county committee as a reward for all their efforts over the last three or four years and as preparations for the season ahead which gets under way with their opening game in the Dr. McKenna Cup on January 11th. With Seamus McEnaney opting not to take charge of the U21 county team this year nominations for that position have been sought from the clubs. It is believed that there are four or five nominations and they will be interviewed for the position in the coming weeks. Meanwhile at minor level the first minor trial game takes place in Cloghan tonight, Thursday December 4th and the the Following players are requested to attend. Clubs must inform either Paul O'Connor or Paul Curran if their players are not attending and the clubs are responsible for getting their players to and from the venue.
