Daly not looking beyond Antrim
November 28, 2008
New Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly is refusing to look beyond next summer's championship opener against Leinster newcomers Antrim at Croke Park.
Expectation levels have soared in the capital following the Clare legend's appointment last Monday, but he believes it would be extremely dangerous to take the challenge of their first round opponents lightly.
"I can come and give all that's in me and I'm sure it will be the same with the people I will have around me and I wouldn't put any limits on where it can go," he said.
"We are 250/1 to win the All-Ireland. Let's face facts. And I'm not saying that to make excuses for myself.
"I wouldn't ever hold back on what can be achieved. It depends on how the players react and how the thing is going. Where I see it going is trying to get over Antrim on June 6, maybe tearing into the league and the Walsh Cup first.
"We have to face into Antrim and the reality is that Dublin's record against them has been pretty poor over the last few years.
