The Monaghan footballers will fly out to Lanzarote on Saturday for a week's holiday.
Manager Seamus McEnaney joked: "We are not going training - it is a team holiday - no gear coming, we are going for the craic.
"We are heading to Lanzarote this Saturday and we are looking forward to that. Basically, we are drawing a line in the sand on the 2008 season and on the 2008 panel.
"Monaghan have one of the best county boards in Ireland and they look after the players exceptionally well. They offered us the team holiday - as a holiday - and we are delighted to take it up and the lads are delighted to go on it."
McEnaney has welcomed the new inter-county closed season, adding that it allows his players time to recharge their batteries after a long year.
"We are enjoying the break - we are one county that won't be breaking the collective training ban because we are delighted with the six-week break.
"I am going into my fifth year now and there is nothing much more new for us to work on at this time of year. Some of the lads have been on the road now six or seven years and they are delighted with the break."
