Dublin job interests Byrne

November 14, 2008
Former Kilkenny captain Denis Byrne has admitted that managing the Dublin hurlers would interest him if he was approached about the vacancy. Byrne, who worked with the previous management as a skills coach, sees great potential in the Metropolitans, but warned that several issues will need to be addressed if they are to make the breakthrough at senior level. "A number of things will have to come up to speed for Dublin to make a breakthrough," said Byrne, who also played for Tipperary. "Hopefully, whoever they appoint will tackle these issues for the good of Dublin hurling. "Dublin have a lot of genuine players interested in improving. As things stand, I have had no official contact from anybody in Dublin and I haven't been approached. "If I was, I would certainly listen to what they have to say and I never dismiss things out of hand."
