Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney GAA's new full-time Games Development Officer Darren Magee puts pupils through their paces at St Josephs National School, Castlerainey. The GAA club has just received a massive development boost with the signing of a new sponsorship deal with competitive energy provider Energia. Energia are sponsoring the club's three-year development programme, which sees current Dublin county footballer Darren Magee employed as a full-time games development officer. 11 November, 2008 - Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney GAA club have received a massive development boost with the signing of a new sponsorship deal with competitive energy provider Energia. Energia are sponsoring the club's three-year development programme, which sees current Dublin county footballer Darren Magee employed as a full-time games development officer. Magee's important new role will centre around involving more children and parents in Gaelic Football. He will be coaching in all eleven Arklow schools each week, and training designated teachers in each school, as well as, up-skilling the club's coaches, designing new coaching programmes and assisting with the development-coaching plan for the club. Martin McAndrew, Cathaoirleach of Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney GAA Club commented, "The three year development programme is a major boost to the development of the club and gaelic games in south Wicklow and north Wexford." "Darren's involvement after six months has been very productive. We have registered 120 new boys and girls to the club bringing our total to 360. He has attracted 20 new parents to the club and has set out coaching programmes to these parents. Some of these parents had no previous knowledge of gaelic sports. The programmes have given them great the parents great confidence to coach, and, as a club, we hope to extend the programmes in the future."    Deirdre Ryan, Key Account Manager, Energia, added: "We are delighted to be given the opportunity to support the great work that Arklow Geraldines are doing in promoting the development of Gaelic Football in the community. We wish the club and Darren the greatest of success with their new development programme." Deirdre Ryan was 2007 Player of the Year for the club's ladies senior team. She managed the ladies junior team during the 2008 season and is treasurer for the club's ladies section.
