Wexford Refs up in arms
November 07, 2008
The Wexford referees association are set to meet tonight (Friday) to discuss the debacle that ensued following the overturning of a red card by the Hearings committee.
Towards the end of the SFC quarterfinal clash between Shelmaliers and Adamstown, Colm Tynan was handed a straight red card by referee Sean Whelan, which was later overturned by the hearings committee and left the player free to play against Gusserane in the semi final.
However, the referee's association are to discuss the sending off and spokesman John Rossiter stressed that they may take further action over the matter.
"I hope Wexford County Board do not believe this is the end of the matter," said Rossiter. "It was disgraceful the way Sean Whelan's report was dealt with. This is far from over."
