Kingdom job still appeals to Micko
November 07, 2008
Mick O'Dwyer has admitted he would have been interested in a return to the Kerry hotseat had he not committed himself to Wicklow for another year.
The 72-year-old led the Kingdom to eight All-Ireland titles during a glorious spell between 1975 and '86, which included a four-in-a-row between 1978 and '81. Since stepping down as Kerry manager, he has delivered Leinster championship success to both Kildare and Laois, and guided Wicklow to their first Leinster senior championship victory in Croke Park earlier this year.
The Waterville maestro recently agreed to continue as Wicklow manager for a third year, but had he not committed himself to the Garden County, he would have relished a crack at the Kingdom job once again.
"If I had been free, I would have been interested, there's no doubt about that," O'Dwyer said.
"I don't know who they'll go for as I don't have any contact with them and it would be unfair on me to make any comment. They'll make their own decision."
