McHale Park will host league games

November 06, 2008
Mayo chairman James Waldron is confident that McHale Park will be available to host the county's four 'home' National Football League games next spring. The Castlebar venue is currently closed for redevelopment work, but Waldron said it will reopen in time for Mayo's National League opener against holders Derry on Sunday, February 1. He said: "As of now, we're hoping to host all our home games at McHale Park. I've been talking to the builders in the last few days and they're very pleased with the way the work is progressing. "By the time the league starts, the McHale Road side of the pitch, and toilets on that side, should be ready. The completion date for the work is actually the end of June so if we do end up playing Leitrim in the Connacht semi-final, I would expect McHale Park to be ready." John O'Mahony's men will also have home advantage against Westmeath, Dublin and All-Ireland champions Tyrone, but must travel to Donegal, Kerry and Galway.
