Centre of Excellence agreement

County GAA Chairman, Sean Kelly, wishes to announce that he has reached agreement with a landowner for the purchase of lands to be used for the development of a Donegal GAA Centre of Excellence. The purchase of these lands, which are situated on the outskirts of Convoy, is subject to obtaining planning permission for the proposed development. It is envisaged that the new centre will contain five pitches and associated changing and training facilities and may also contain an administration centre. It will also provide facilities for the entire GAA family in Donegal, women's football and camogie, handball and rounders. The purchase and the development of a Centre of Excellence is an integral part of Donegal's GAA 5 year Strategy which will be launched shortly. This strategy contains the vision set for the GAA in Donegal over the next five years in order to maintain its position as the leading sport's brand in the county The twelve themes contained in this 5 year Strategy are: 1. Managing the GAA in Donegal 2. Running the Games 3. Coaching and Games Development 4. Club and Community Development 5. Hurling 6. Infrastructure 7. Irish Culture and Heritage 8. Urban Donegal 9. An Inclusive GAA 10. Health, Wellness and Lifestyle 11. Marketing, Communications and PR 12. Funding Donegal Sean Kelly wishes to thank the Centre of Excellence sub committee chaired by Brian McEniff for their contribution in helping to source and secure the proposed site for the Centre of Excellence. In relation the the five year plan, the Chairman would also like to acknowledge the work of the Ulster Council and in particular Ryan Feeney, as well as our former County Administration Manager Noirion Doherty in preparing and putting together the plan.
