Rafferty says extra matches were bitter-sweet experiences

Armagh's John Rafferty
Ahead of his side's tilt with Ballinderry in the Derry SFC final, Slaughtneil boss John Rafferty has admitted that having to play two replays en route to the decider has proven to be a double-edged sword. "I suppose matches are better than training," said Rafferty. "The two replays were two Championship matches that I wasn't expecting to get and we were hoping to clear the hurdle at the first attempt. "The two extra matches wouldn't have done us any harm in preparation for the final. The downside is that we have a couple of fellas that are nursing injuries. "The replay of the semi-final has given us a few knocks. The boys will be given right up to the throw-in before we decide on a starting 15."
