Devenney happy to lead from the front
October 03, 2008
Donegal star Brendan Devenney admits that it has been a great experience captaining St Eunan's this year, although that will count for nothing if the lose on Sunday.
Devenney will be playing in his ninth county final, but for the first time ever he will captain the side and it's a role that the talented forward is relishing.
"This year when Eamon took over I told him that I would be playing soccer and I wasn't going back to Donegal and would be doing pre-season with the club. He asked me if I wanted to be captain and I said 'aye'," explained Devenney.
"I've got a cracking bunch of lads and the attitude this year has been unbelievable. After winning the championship last year, at the first meeting this year everybody was mad to get going again."
"Every day that I go out with this group of players, I'm so enjoying my football. It's the team I've most enjoyed playing with, the St Eunan's team this year. I would want to hopefully win this championship."
