Colmcilles capture three-in-a-row
October 02, 2008
St Colmcilles 3-13
St Nicholas 0-9
St Colmcilles clinched their first ever three-in-a-row of Gloucestershire Senior Football Championship titles in Bristol at the weekend.
Amazingly, it is also the third year-in-a-row where they have saw off St Nicholas in the final to capture the John F Kennedy Cup.
The Welsh outfit got themselves off to a good start in the game when Josh Long hot the top corner of the net for the winners early on to establish a cushioned lead.
It too St Nicholas 23 minutes to get off the mark through Niall Loughlin, but a hat-trick of points from Mark Devareux in quick reply left them needing somewhat of a miracle after the break.
In the second-half scores from Noel Roche gave the Bristol men some hope, but Devareux and Alan Rowley second goal of the afternoon assured that St Colmcilles were three-time champions.
