Wilson praises support

October 02, 2008
London Ladies manager Johnny Wilson has heaped praise on his side's supporters that followed the team across the Channel all the way to an All-Ireland JFC crown at Croke Park. Wilson admitted after the victory over Derry that the team had won the game as much for the supporters and anything else and thanked them for travelling to HQ to help support their side. "I'm delighted for the players, the supporters and all the people who were behind us," said Wilson. "We did it for them as much as we did it for ourselves and we thank them for being there today. Everybody put in the hard work and it has paid off. It's fantastic." After losing out in the decider at the same venue last year, the London boss believes that some advantage lied with his side in that they had the Croke Park experience that Derry didn't have already behind them. "There wasn't really anything between the teams to be fair. Derry are a superb side but it's almost like the Croke Park hoodoo. It is tough there in your first final. "It's a relief, an amazing feat. We were brave out there and I'm very proud of the players."
