Mannion aims high
October 02, 2008
Roscommon footballer Karol Mannion will face his biggest challenge yet when he and his brother John attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in December for charity.
The Mannion brothers are raising money for Breast Cancer Ireland and they will begin their climb on December 9th, which will take seven days to complete.
Karol has been an integral part of the Roscommon and St Brigid's sides for the past few seasons, but he admits this will be a tough test of his fitness.
"We were going on a holiday there anyway and we said it would be nice to fundraise for charity while we're there. Breast Cancer Ireland is something we have benefited from and we think it's a good opportunity to raise funds for it," said Karol.
"I've climbed Croagh Patrick a few times and I hope to climb Carrantuohill before I go. The only thing we're worried about is the altitude; you can get sick from it."
