John Doyle probably would not have minded if the Gooch had outscored him on Sunday to take the championship top scorer if his club Allenwood had advanced to the Kildare senior football championship semi-final. The Barney Rock trained side advanced to a meeting with St. Laurence's following a narrow one-point win. The winners diplayed a good deal of character and maturity in battling their way into the semi-finals. At the commencement of the second-half it looked as if Allenwood might have been on their way to victory especially after John Doyle smashed a goal to the net. Celbridge refused to panic despite being in arrears to the tune of six points. Shortly after the goal, the eventual winners began to pick off valuable points and during a four minute spell added as many points on the board. Adrian Cahill took advantage of a defensive error in the closing minutes to point and in the process he sealed victory for Celbridge. Tweet
