Slaughtneil to meet Ballinderry in SFC decider

The 2008 Derry senior football championship final will be contested by Slaughtneil and Ballinderry.
Slaughtneil belatedly booked their place in the decider with a facile 1-15 to 0-7 semi-final replay victory over Ballinascreen at Celtic Park. Ballinderry had already advanced with a narrow win over Dungiven.
Both these sides are recent winners of the John McLaughlin Cup. Ballinderry's most recent triumph was in 2006, while Slaughtneil last reigned supreme in the Oak Leaf County in 2004.
This year's showdown goes ahead at the county grounds on Sunday October 5.
