Evans to stay with Tipp

September 23, 2008
John Evans has confirmed to Tipperary county board officials that he wishes to continue as senior football manager for a second year. This is despite the fact that the Killorglin native clocked up 35,000 miles in his first year in charge. An eight-hour round trip faces Evans each night he travels to oversee training sessions in the Premier County and since his appointment last November, he has not missed a single session. The Kerry man can take a lot of encouragement from his first year at the helm when he guided Tipperary to promotion from Division 4 of the NFL against all expectations. They ran Limerick close in the Munster championship before losing to Westmeath by nine points in the All-Ireland qualifiers.
