O'Grady looking for that deja vu feeling
September 20, 2008
Mayo minor selector Tomas O'Grady was on the last Mayo team to land the All-Ireland minor title (1985) so he's hoping history will repeat itself this Sunday when the westerners cross swords in the final with Ulster kingpins Tyrone at Croke Park.
O'Grady says there are some similarities between Mayo's all-conquering panel of '85 and the team hoping to come good this weekend.
"There would be comparisons, no doubt," said Beirne. "It has been a gradual improvement, the graph has risen from the first game against Roscommon.
"It was similar in '85. It was small steps, and we ended up reaching the pinnacle. So you'd be hoping it'd turn out the same this time."
