Loughmore remain in the hunt
September 19, 2008
Loughmore-Castleiney remain on course to retain their county and Munster senior hurling titles following their 2-13 to 2-10 victory over Killenaule last weekend.
The South Tipp champions looked like causing an upset when goals from Niall O'Dwyer and Matthew O'Donnell helped them to a two-point lead at the interval. But the sending off of O'Donnell on a second yellow card shortly after the restart proved the game's turning point as Loughmore - aided by an Eddie Connolly goal and fine performances from veterans Paul Ormonde and David Kennedy - found back to claim a place in the quarter-finals.
Cappawhite are also through after they defeated Eire Og/Anacarty by 1-17 to 0-16. The winners led 0-11 to 0-10 at the break before Dessie Ryan hit the game's only goal. Eire Og battled hard to get back on terms with Conor O'Brien particularly impressive alongside Kevin Fox, Damien O'Brien and Ronan O'Brien, but their West Tipp rivals held on for the win.
