Newcomers south Kildare show slight improvement

September 19, 2008
Newcomers South Kildare having suffered a twenty nine point defeat earlier in the campaign to Ardclough bravely made another championship appearance on Saturday evening last and while never threatening to win the game, ended up losing somewhat more respectively. Coill Dubh, who have participated in 14 of the last 15 finals in the Kildare senior hurling championship proved easy winners on a score-line of 3-12 to 0-6. The winners will certainly face tougher opposition as the championship continues. South Kildare did enjoy a good spell for about ten minutes of the resumption of play and got the deficit reduced to just eight points. However a goal from Tom Carew and his side's third put paid to their hopes of getting any closer to the experienced Coill Dubh. South struggled very much in the middle of the field but can be proud of the full-back line with Billy Joe Corcoran and the two McMullens showing a good deal of necessary aggression and passion.
