Celbridge spread around the goals
September 19, 2008
Celbridge gave a complete team performance on Saturday morning last in Conneff Park, Clane when overpowering Eire Og/Corrachoill in the Kildare senior hurling championship y 5-11 to 1-8 in a match that all half-forwards goaled for the winners.
Five players shared in the quintet of goals and Eire Og who impressed two weeks ago against Ardclough will hardly have been impressed with their own defensive lapses. A feature of Eire Og's game was the inability to score from play apart from a paltry two points. They were under so much pressure at different times in the game that Billy White with 0-9 to his credit was able to capitalise on most of the frees awarded.
Celbridge will be keen to make a serious bid for championship honours this year and the confidence of having so many county players within the ranks will help a good deal and they will realise that in order to lift the trophy at the end of the season the skill level would need to be matched by the necessary physical intensity that some of the other teams might better display.
